Club Balai Isabel photos

Another late post.

Our family spent one weekend last October at Club Balai Isabel in Batangas for my mom’s birthday. I didn’t have time to go through all the pictures we took back then because there was so much work to be done as soon as we got home. But I did post a few that Ezra and I chose for our self portraits that week:

Anyway, I finally had time today to sort all the pictures and picked out some I’d like to share with you guys:

Club Balai Isabel is composed of many “balai”s (houses) in one compound.  We stayed at Balai Mabini, which was closest to the pool and dining area.

We got Room 101, which was the room right next to the pool.  We had a hard time getting this room because the Club didn’t want to let us stay there for some reason.  They said something about time sharing I think.  But eventually my mom was able to convince them to give us that room.

Our room.  There was a mini-kitchen inside too, but you can’t see it in the picture.

Our room’s terrace

View from our room:

Their weekend family package comes with a free massage for four people, which we enjoyed on our 2nd night there.  This was the room where we had our massage.

We spent most of our time just walking around and admiring the view.  The club’s pool was right next to our room, but none of us went swimming for some reason.  On our 2nd day there we were supposed to go kayaking and aqua-biking but it was got really windy, which resulted to huge waves on the lake.  We decided to just take a tour of the compound and take more pictures instead.

Week 47/52: I’ll show you a sweet dream the next night

Before anyone even asks, yes, that’s a wig.  My mom bought it the other day for a little skit that her department is putting on for the upcoming Faculty Follies this December.  I borrowed it for my SP this week.

I’ve been thinking about getting straight-cut bangs, but after seeing how I looked with this wig, I probably won’t do it.  My face is very round and the blunt bangs just emphasizes that.  You’ll notice that I used my hand to cover part my jaw in most of these pictures, to try to make my face look a bit smaller (and less round) than it really is.

I crocheted the beret myself.  It’s not that well made so I’m happy to see that it looks fine in the pictures ^___^

Thanks Ezra for the shots and for lending me Tarepanda.

The title I used is a quote flashed at the end of each episode of the anime Vampire Knight.  I love that manga~

Outtakes:

I like this one too, but my face looks so round, haha.

“Ooh, a deformed panda~”

Looks like I’m planning something evil XD  This was supposed to be my main upload because it shows the whole outfit but I ended up liking the first one more while I was editing it.

It looks like I’m wearing a dress in this shot, but it’s actually a blouse and a skirt :)

(EZRA) 46/52 : Glow of Fireflies

I tried my best to edit this so that it would appear more “magical” rather than “creepy”.  The glowing thing she was holding was actually purple, which made the photo very haunting.  I changed the color to yellow in Photoshop and added in the “fireflies”.

One of my favorite Japanese dramas is “Hotaru no Hikari” which is “light of a firefly”/”glow of fireflies” in English. I really like fireflies, but I haven’t seen one in a long time. When I was a kid I used to see a few flying around in our garden, but recently they’ve all disappeared.

I have a small glowing toy so I thought it would be fun to use for this SP.

Thanks a lot to my sister for taking my picture and editing it.

Week 46/52: Keep your eyes on the stars, and your feet on the ground

Digital makeup FTW!

Self portrait last week.  I cheated with this photo, the picture of my feet was taken about a month ago XD

Quote in the title is by Theodore Roosevelt.

October Haul

It’s been a while since I made a haul entry. The main reason is that I’ve been trying to stay away from malls because my savings have been suffering lately. But I did pick up a few stuff that I (sorta) needed last month.

New brush (the green one on the left). I love huge paddle brushes like these. I bought my old Conair brush (the orange one) at Walmart for about $7 in April 2009 and I love it.  It feels like my scalp is getting a mini-massage every time I use it.   But for some reason, the rubber grips have sorta melted recently, making the handle very sticky (and yucky) to hold. I guess the brush wasn’t meant to last in warm and humid countries. I’ve been looking for a replacement for a while so I’m glad I found this green one at Landmark Trinoma for only ~150PhP.  It’s not as “cushiony” (is that even a word?) as the Conair one, but it feels good on the scalp too.

Pond’s White Beauty Detox cream. I used Pond’s whitening cream a lot back in highschool, but I stopped in college for some reason. I think it’s because I noticed that my skin has gotten a lot more sensitive to the sun since I started using it. I’m not sure if Ponds is the reason, but these days if I stay out in the sun too long I start to get rashes on my face. Anyway I’ve been getting a lot of pimples lately, and they’ve been leaving a lot of scars on my face. I remembered that Ponds whitening cream was effective in the past in removing my pimple scars so I decided to start using it again. I’ve been using it for about 2 weeks now and I noticed that some of my scars have started to lighten already, yay~

Silk Secrets Oil Control Sheets. This is my 2nd pack already, so it means I really like this product. I’ve tried a lot of different brands in the past and I’ve never been able to finish a whole pack. I don’t know why, I just keep switching brands whenever something new comes out. But I really like this one. It’s cheap and does the job well. Plus I love the color (apple green) XD.

Hair treatment Wax. I dropped by Watsons because I wanted to try the Lorys Hair Cream I read about on Project Vanity (my favorite beauty blog, you guys should definitely check that out if you haven’t already), but they only come in 1000mL jars. They’re HUGE! It would probaby take me forever to finish one entire jar. I didn’t want to risk buying something that big when I wasn’t sure how I would like it, so I decided to just get these smaller ones instead. It was Buy One Get One Free too! (Yes, I’m cheap.) I’ve only tried the Repairing Treatment Wax (the orange one) so far and it’s pretty good. I wouldn’t call it amazing, but it does leave my hair nice and soft. My sister says it made her hair stiff though, which is weird because usually whatever works on me works on her too.

(EZRA) 45/52: Carrying this much books should be considered a form of exercise!

Ezra’s portrait last week.

Her description:

It’s a start of a new semester! I really enjoyed my first semester as a graduate student, so I hope this semester would be as fun as the last.

The books I’m carrying in the picture were really heavy.  My sister had to help me stack them up in my arms.  Thanks a lot to my sister for taking my picture and editing it!

Those are actually my textbooks.  I don’t know why she doesn’t have her own books XD

Week 45/52: Would you lie with me and just forget the world

Quick (lazy) self portrait.  I’ve actually used those same paper clouds before on a self portrait I took last year.  I was too lazy to cut out new clouds so I “borrowed” them from my old photo XD

It’s been a lot colder these days.  Almost everyone I know has been down with the flu, including me.  (I think I might have passed it on to some people, I’m not sure, hehehe XD)  I like the cold (and cloudy) weather, I just wish it wouldn’t rain so much.  The other day I got stuck at the library for over an hour waiting for the rain to stop so I could go home.  Plus all the humidity is making my piano’s keys swell up T__T
I was tagged by Stephanie on Flickr a while back (like over a month ago), and I keep forgetting to do it.  I might as well do it now.  So here are 5 things you didn’t know (or might not know) about me:

1. I can’t sleep on a bus (or a car) unless it’s moving.  Another reason to hate traffic.

2. I always carry a bottle of antacids in my bag.  I’ve been suffering from hyperacidity ever since 2004, and I normally need them, especially when I’m stressed.

3. I’ve never travelled (to another country) without my parents before.  I’ve been travelling since I was 6 years old, but the thought of travelling alone still freaks me out.

4. I love (good) reality shows, even though I know that most of the scenes are scripted.

5. I catch colds really easily.  Put me next to a person who has a cold for about 10 minutes and there’s an 80% chance that I’ll have a runny nose the next day.

Santa came early this year : BAND HERO

Ezra and I got our first Christmas present about a month ago:

BAND HERO!

Every since we got the Guitar Hero 5 kit for my birthday, Ezra and I have spent many sleepless nights playing. I’ve actually had to force myself to take a break during the first few days because my left wrist and fingers started to hurt so much. It got to the point where I could barely move my left hand because of the pain. But after resting for a day or two, my hand was back to normal and I could play again.

A few friends have already come over to play with Ezra and me, which was a lot of fun. Back when we only had one guitar, we had to take turns playing.   We were fine with this setup until my mom announced that she decided to get us another guitar for Christmas. With a little bit of persuasion, Ezra and I were able to convince her and my dad to get us the Band Hero kit instead, so we’d have the extra guitar, plus a drum set and a mic as well.

New toys! :)

No more fighting over the guitar

Unfortunately, since we only have two working Wiimotes (one broke), only two people can play at a time.  Usually Ezra plays the drums while I sing or play the guitar.  My aunt agreed to get us two additional Wiimotes when she comes to visit this Christmas, so we’re looking forward to that.  Our cousins will probably stay with us during the holidays too, so we’ll be able to unlock the band challenges in Career Mode with their help.

Technically, it is a Christmas present, but my parents decided to buy it early in case the shops run out of stocks during the holidays. They allowed Ezra and me to play with it for one week, just to see if everything works fine. My mom told us she’d hide it one of these days and we’d have to wait until Christmas to play with it again, but she’s been really busy lately so she keeps forgetting.  We’ve been having fun with it for about a month now XD

Thanks Mom and Dad!

(EZRA) 44/52: If plants could talk I wonder what they would say?

Ezra’s portrait last week.

Her description:

The plants in the picture are called “Gabi” in Tagalog.  They’re edible and taste good. (I’m not really sure, but I think it’s called Taro in English?)

When I saw that there were so many of them just growing in the side of the road I just had to take a picture with them, hehe.

Thanks a lot to my sister for taking my picture and editing it!

Week 44/52: “Between the wish and the thing life lies waiting.

Simple self portrait.  Ezra took this while we were walking around campus last week.

Registration for the next semester has started so Ezra and I have been busy again.  Ezra bribed me with ice cream to keep her company during registration.  The lines during enlistment are usually long, and its always nice to have someone to talk to.
