Still three weeks behind, yikes!
My friend Amie took this shot of me last week when we went out to have merienda together. I don’t normally bring my camera with me to the office, but I was hoping to get some good shots for my photography class.
This is my first self portrait that was actually taken in black and white. I normally shoot and color and convert it to b&w during post processing. I don’t think I’ve ever used the monochrome setting on my camera before. Unfortunately my photography class doesn’t allow us to edit our photos (for now), so we have to make all the adjustments on our camera. But this is a good thing. For the past few years I’ve relied heavily on Photoshop, to the point that I don’t really bother with proper exposure, saturation and contrast when I shoot anymore. Thanks to this class, I’ve been forced to rediscover these wonderful features on my camera and play around with them.
(Of course I’m not going to pretend that I didn’t Photoshop this. Gotta get rid of those nasty pimples, and no amount of camera tinkering is going to help me with that. But that’s all I did, no cropping, filters, textures, etc … :D)
This week’s title came from a quote from Shadowfever (the final book in the Fever series by Karen Marie Moning). I finally finished reading it the other day 😀 You can read my review HERE.
